TITLE 75 Section 4524 (e)(1) of the Pennsylvania Common Statutes states that If an officer cites you, this is the law that he will probably accuse you of violating! This is the actual LAW passed by the PA Legislators in response to the will of the people. Check this website out for PA tint law's:įor those of us who are lazy, me included, here is what it says: I would also go to court over the tint b/c PA law doesn't actually state that below 70% is illegal. It's a small area off of 65, north of the city. I know because he had pre-printed citations with "illegal modification to car lighting" and "illegal tinting of windows."įor those that are in the Pittsburgh area, stay away from Kilbuck twp. My last point is that, doesn't this guy have something better to do with his time? I know my tint is illegal, but this is one of those cops that just cruises around pulling people over for modded parts to their car. Anyone familiar with PA state laws in regards to any of this? I will be doing a lot of research on this over the next few days, but I figured I would start here. Secondly, I honestly thought as long the taillights and front markers glowed to appropriate color that I was ok. Does the same rule apply in my case? Or is it difference because it had something to do with the "illegal" look of my car? Here is what I am wondering, First off, isn't it illegal for a cop to pull you over just for secondary violations? Don't they need a legit reason to pull you over in the first place? I know they can't pull you over just to give you a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt. And he wrote me up for 37% tint on all my windows. He also wrote me up for my front, clear side markers because although they glow amber when on, they apparently have to be yellow or amber when the lights are off.

He informs me that according to the PA state inspection manual blah blah blah, that is illegal. I responded and stated that light can still reflect off of them and when my lights are on, red can easily be seen. I roll my window down and before I can even say anything to the officer he basically yells at me and says "Why are your taillights painted black sir?" It really took me off guard as I wasn't expecting that at all. I saw the flashing lights behind and was wondering why I was being pulled over since I wasn't speeding. So I finally had my first run in with the police last night.
